Open Letter from the German Debt Relief Alliance to Chancellor Scholz on the SDG Mid-Term Summit.
The German debt relief alliance erlassjahr.de, with the support of 58 other civil society organizations, addressed an open letter to the German Chancellor on 11.9.23. In this letter, the alliance demands that Mr. Scholz will stand up for a fair solution to the global debt crisis at the Agenda 2030 mid-term summit.
Event: After the SDG Summit - Ambitious start into the next seven years of Agenda 2030?!
On September 18 and 19, 2023, the SDG Summit will take place in New York at the midpoint of the 2030 Agenda. At our event on September 27, we will evaluate the SDG Summit and discuss with high-level guests what needs to happen now if we still want to achieve the SDGs.
Expectations for the SDG Summit
In order to create new momentum at the SDG Summit to be held in September 2023, governments urgently need to demonstrate new commitments to the SDGs. To this end, Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Eine Welt-Landesnetzwerke in Deutschland (agl), the international civil society network Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) and the Forum on Environment and Development have published expectations of the German government with regard to the summit (in German).

They contain practical proposals for fulfilling the long-standing commitment to meet the needs of the present in a way that safeguards the interests of future generations and preserves their ability to exercise all human rights effectively.
"BeyondSDG"- New Research Project at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research
The project will identify critical targets for prioritizing the SDGs, examine the implications of (not) achieving the SDGs for long-term sustainability post-2030, and highlight sustainability targets for the post-2030 development agenda.
