Shaping North Rhine-Westphalia as a pioneer for transformation and sustainable global development

At the halfway point of the 2030 Agenda, it is clear that many countries, and Germany in particular, are not doing enough to achieve the 17 SDGs by 2030. In a ranking by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), Germany lands in 149th place out of 163 in the spill-over score, which measures the impact of policy decisions on other countries from positive to negative! Among other things, the One World Network NRW calls for the strengthening of communication and education work to promote a broad understanding of the need for global transformation to sustainable development among the population. Furthermore, the perspective of the young generation as well as the people of the global south must be more strongly incorporated into the sustainability strategy of NRW and also be represented in the NRW Sustainability Council.

On 23 pages, concrete levers and measures along the SDGs are spelled out. A successful transformation at the local level can not only have an impact on the environment through direct improvements, but also act as a role model and knowledge carrier to enable other countries to achieve similar development.
