Event note: Anchoring climate protection and climate adaptation in municipalities

On December 7, Climate Alliance Germany invites to the European House in Berlin from 13:30 - 20:00 in order to discuss together with decision makers from municipalities, federal and state politics the anchoring of climate protection and climate adaptation in municipal mandatory tasks.

Municipalities play a central role in tackling the climate crisis. Nevertheless, climate protection and climate adaptation have so far been voluntary tasks of cities, municipalities and counties. In order for municipalities to be able to manage the urgently needed socio-ecological transformation despite scarce financial and human resources, climate protection and climate adaptation need to be systematically and comprehensively anchored at the municipal level.

After a keynote speech by Dr. Roda Verheyen on the legal framework, there will be a panel discussion with decision-makers from the European, national and local levels on the question of how climate protection and climate adaptation can be better anchored in municipalities. Afterwards, participants can choose from three interactive workshops on good examples from Europe, possible financing models for municipal climate protection and the heating sector. The program will be rounded off by networking over a buffet and drinks.
