SDG Seminar: The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - A Task for All of Society
The three-day seminar explores the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), offers a collaborative exchange on ways to contribute to the implementation of the SDGs in work and personal life, and shares positive examples of engagement from a wide range of sectors.
"The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the United Nations ' vision for a better life for all people. They include objectives such as overcoming hunger and poverty, access to education and health care, reducing inequalities, and environmental and climate protection. This "global action plan" was adopted by all countries of the world in 2015 and is to be achieved by 2030.
The global balance sheet of implementation is very sobering after half of the implementation period. Nevertheless, examples from many areas of society show that change is possible and that we can all make a contribution to greater sustainability and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Indeed, the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs are not exclusively addressed to politics, but also to science, business, civil society and each and every one of us.
Be it through education on sustainable development, developing our own sustainability strategies, thinking about the SDGs in our private and professional lives - or demanding more action from policymakers. The SDGs have to do very concretely with us, our lives and our actions. That is why we want to dedicate this seminar to positive examples of engagement around the SDGs in very different areas of society and our own opportunities to contribute to their implementation - but without losing sight of the "big picture". For truly sustainable global development, we need both: commitment in all areas of society as well as fundamental changes in politics and groundbreaking decisions in the international cooperation of the United Nations.
The seminar will include group work, discussions and expert input from various speakers. Prior knowledge of the 2030 Agenda is not assumed."
