Open Letter from the German Debt Relief Alliance to Chancellor Scholz on the SDG Mid-Term Summit.

The German debt relief alliance erlassjahr.de, with the support of 58 other civil society organizations, sent an open letter to the German Chancellor on 11.9.23. In this letter, the alliance calls on Mr. Scholz to stand up for a fair solution to the global debt crisis at the mid-term summit of the 2030 Agenda and the subsequent UN Summit of the Future, which is being prepared by Germany together with Namibia. Among other things, the authors call for the creation of a transparent sovereign insolvency procedure and greater participation of debtor countries in the global financial architecture. The goals of the 2030 Agenda can only be achieved if the countries of the global South can make substantial investments and their funds are not tied up in repayments to their creditors.
