Germany's VNR 2016
In 2016, 22 countries, including Germany, volunteered to present their national implementation status as part of the so-called Voluntary National Reviews. The theme of the HLPF 2016 was "Leave no one behind". The background of these countries (region, "development status", form of government) was very diverse: China, Colombia, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Rep. Korea, Madagascar, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, Norway, Philippines, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Togo, Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda, Venezuela. The states were divided into five groups for the reporting, which took place July 19-20. Each state had 15 minutes for its report, which was followed by comments from other member states, experts and representatives of the Major Groups. At the end of the HLPF, a Ministerial Declaration was adopted.
The German delegation included as civil society representatives: The German NGO Forum on Environment and Development, VENRO, GEW, BDI and two youth representatives. As part of the German presentation, Ansgar Klinger, GEW, delivered a statement written by trade unions, NGOs (German NGO Forum on Environment and Development and VENRO) and BDI. In addition, a side event with the title "Involving all partners in SDG implementation and review - Perspectives from different parts of society" was organized by the German government on July 19, 2016, where society actors had additional space for statements. The following statements were made:
