UN DESA's recently published SDG 7 progress report highlights, among other things, the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the achievement of SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), as well as interactions between SDG 7, SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

On 20 June, a meta-study on the political influence of the SDGs conducted by researchers from Utrecht University was published in the journalnature sustainability. In the six years since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, the SDGs have not triggered any significant policy change, is the sobering conclusion.

This year's World Bank Energy Progress Report shows that the international community has been significantly set back in terms of SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy) by the Covid 19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

The SDGs must not be played off against each other, because they are closely interrelated and can only be achieved as an overall package. This is shown in a recently published report by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.

This year, the Sustainability Project is once again awarding a sustainability prize to initiatives and projects in business, science, civil society and municipalities that are committed to sustainable development. Applications are still being accepted until 4 July.
