Together with partner organisations, the Bertelsmann Foundation has published the third edition of its SDG indicator catalogue for municipalities.
High-Level Political Forum from 5 to 15 July 2022
Save the date: This year's High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development will take place from 5 to 15 July. Civil society is also organising a CSO Day on 8 July under the motto "Unmute Civil Society towards a Recovery for All", where the Forum Environment & Development is expected to offer a breakout session.
Change happens in small ways

Nothing works without climate adaptation
The article "Targeting climate adaptation to safeguard and advance the Sustainable Development Goals" shows: Without climate adaptation efforts, the majority of the SDGs cannot be achieved.

SDG 7 Progress Report
UN DESA's recently published SDG 7 progress report highlights, among other things, the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the achievement of SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), as well as interactions between SDG 7, SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
Discourse change yes, policy change no
On 20 June, a meta-study on the political influence of the SDGs conducted by researchers from Utrecht University was published in the journalnature sustainability. In the six years since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, the SDGs have not triggered any significant policy change, is the sobering conclusion.

More and more municipalities around the world are conducting Local Voluntary Reviews to systematically assess where they stand on the 2030 Agenda.

On 5 July, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) are organising a side event to the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) with the theme of spillover effects.

Crises slow progress on SDG 7
This year's World Bank Energy Progress Report shows that the international community has been significantly set back in terms of SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy) by the Covid 19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

On 21 June, there will be a lecture with Oliver Hasenkamp from the DGVN Secretariat on the international implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Poverty reduction and climate and environmental protection are not mutually exclusive
The SDGs must not be played off against each other, because they are closely interrelated and can only be achieved as an overall package. This is shown in a recently published report by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.

UN report calls for SDG cooperation
In a report on "Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", the UN Secretary-General calls on states to work together to rebuild from the Corona pandemic and seize the opportunity to make much-needed progress on the 2030 Agenda at the same time.
