Side event of the 51st meeting of the Committee on World Food Security on October 27.

Responsible management of water must ensure equitable access and distribution of the resource. Water tenure is key to sustainable water and food security, social participation, and resilience to the impacts of the climate crisis. In July 2022, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has been shaping the Global Dialogue on Water Tenure, in close collaboration with other relevant UN agencies, and officially launched it at the UN Water Conference in New York in March 2023.

The dialogue event on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Committee on World Food Security on October 27, 8:30 - 9:45 CET, will highlight different perspectives and approaches to water governance from different parts of the world. Speakers include Pedro Arrojo-Agudo (UN Special Rapporteur on Human Right to Water and Sanitation) and Susanne Schlaack (Ministry of Food and Agriculture). Registration is available here.
