Vacation academy brings children closer to the SDGs

At this year's one-week Children's Academy at NaturgGut Ophoven, 19 children from Leverkusen were once again able to learn a lot about the "17 Sustainable Development Goals". Children who want to learn more about nature, the environment and technology were in particularly good hands here. The aim of the Action Days is to give children an understanding of the abstract topic of the SDGs. The children playfully explore the 17 sustainability goals and build, among other things, a solar-powered pirate ship with a galley in which regional and organic dishes are prepared. But there is plenty to discover at NaturGut Ophoven even without the Children's Academy, for example the ClimateExperiencePark. Here, children and adults can learn how to make living, nutrition, mobility and consumption climate-friendly.

The vacation academy of NaturgGut Ophoven thereby follows the ESD action days NRW. In a period of about 2 weeks, joint educational actions on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations take place. The aim is to make the topic of sustainability and exemplary commitment in this area visible. In this way, people not only in NRW but throughout Germany are motivated to act more sustainably through great events and participatory actions.
