A Gender Action Plan for the new Global Framework on Chemicals - Thursday 23.11.2023, 16:00 - 17:30

In September 2023, the 5th International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5) in Bonn adopted the new Global Framework for Chemicals (GFC, formerly SAICM), which includes gender equality as a principle of the new framework. In addition, a resolution entitled "Mainstreaming a Gender Perspective and Promoting Gender Equality and Empowerment of All Women and Girls in Chemicals and Waste Management" was adopted. This mandates the Secretariat to develop, with the participation of interested stakeholders, an action plan for gender equality to be discussed by the Conference at its next session to promote the full, equal and meaningful participation of all women in decision-making processes and to promote gender-responsive policies and gender mainstreaming in the implementation of the framework.

In this webinar on 23.11.2023 from 16:00-17:30 on Zoom, the speakers will present SAICM's gender activities to date, give examples of gender action plans in other international environmental policy processes and discuss with participants initial ideas for the structure and activities of a future Gender Action Plan for the Global Chemicals Framework.
