Workshop: SDG monitoring

During this online workshop, participants were provided with important knowledge about SDG monitoring. Although SDG monitoring is a central component of the 2030 Agenda, many people are not familiar with it. The workshop therefore began by clarifying: what actually is SDG monitoring? And what is SDG reporting? While SDG monitoring focuses on "checking" the implementation status (mainly) with figures and data, SDG reporting, as the name suggests, is about reporting on this implementation status. There are many different monitoring and reporting systems around the world, so it is important to be familiar with international monitoring and reporting as envisaged by the United Nations, but also to know how SDG monitoring and reporting works in your own country so that you can align your work accordingly. These foundations were laid in the first part of the workshop; in the second part, the participants had the opportunity to report on their experiences with monitoring & reporting and received suggestions and ideas on what opportunities there are for civil society engagement in this area.
