This indicator belongs to the sustainability indicators of the European Union (sdg_02_30) and describes the proportion of the total area of agricultural land used for organic farming. Land that has been fully converted or is in the process of conversion is counted. "Organic farming" is understood as a production method that is focused on environmental protection and animal welfare determination. It avoids or strongly limits the use of synthetic chemical influences such as artificial fertilizers, pesticides, additives or medical products. Agriculture is considered organic at the EU level only if it complies with Council Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007.
