Further information on this indicator
-
The indicator shows the share of foreign school graduates as a percentage of all foreign school graduates in a given year. Graduates are defined as persons who leave general education schools with at least a secondary school leaving certificate. The integration of foreigners living in Germany is an important prerequisite for the social cohesion of our society. The basic prerequisite for successful integration is adequate school qualifications that open up vocational training and employment opportunities. The indicator is based on the school statistics of the individual federal states. As a rule, these are total surveys with an obligation to provide information. The Federal Statistical Office compiles the federal results on the basis of the catalog of school types compiled by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The German government's goal is to bring the proportion of foreign school graduates in line with the proportion of German school graduates by 2030. In 2015, the proportion of German school graduates was 95%.
