Ahead of the mid-term of Agenda 2030 and SDGs
Outlook for the UN Sustainable Development Forum and the SDG Summit 2023
Expert discussion by Global Policy Forum and Forum Environment and Development
The year 2023 marks the halfway point in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In view of intensified geopolitical conflicts and unresolved crises, governments, civil society organizations and scientists will take stock. What has been achieved so far in the implementation of the SDGs, where have there been setbacks, what political relevance does the 2030 Agenda still have at all in times of a "turning point"?
The United Nations will address such issues at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July and the SDG Summit in September 2023. In preparation, the preliminary version of the next Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) will already be published in spring 2023.
At the expert discussion, we want to look ahead to the year 2023 and explore what can be expected politically from the events at the UN level. What plans are there for the mid-term of the 2030 Agenda in the German government, what expectations do civil society organizations have? Can the activities spark a new dynamic in the global efforts for a social-ecological transformation?
